Curriculum

Application Process

A student seeking enrollment in Mid-America Reformed Seminary must file a formal application with the Registrar. Click Application Forms to print a copy of the Application. The Application requires that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. Click the Adobe icon below if you do not have Acrobat Reader installed.

The application consists of the following components:

1. The application

This should be sent in by May 1 of the year in which study is to begin.

2. Transcripts

Please submit all college or graduate transcripts. If you have not yet graduated, please request a current transcript (and a final transcript after graduation). These should be official transcripts sent directly from the former institution to Mid-America Reformed Seminary.

3. Recommendations

Mid-America requires an endorsement from your church consistory or session, as well as recommendations from your pastor and three other people. These forms may be requested from the Seminary. It is your responsibility to distribute them and see that they are returned to the Seminary office.

4. Photograph

A recent photograph or snapshot of you should accompany this application.

5. Application fee

The $15.00 (U.S. funds) application fee must accompany this application.

6. Physician's Statement

Mid-America requires a physician's statement verifying that you are in physical and emotional condition to carry a full-time load of graduate studies.

7. Interview

If possible, a personal interview with the Registrar is strongly encouraged. Campus visits can be arranged with him.

Please address all admission materials to the attention of the Registrar. The Admissions Committee endeavors to respond to each application within two weeks of receipt of all the application materials. If you are concerned that you have not heard from us within a reasonable time, please contact the Seminary.

Tuition Rates

The academic excellence and practical experience found at Mid-America Reformed Seminary's first-rate facility are surprisingly affordable. Because many churches and individuals take an active interest in the preparation of qualified students for the ministry, tuition is low and represents only a fraction of the Seminary's operating expenses. Students may also receive assistance from a variety of scholarships and awards.

The following charges for a Master of Divinity represent only a small portion of the expense of operating the Seminary. These low rates are possible because churches and individuals generously support Mid-America Reformed Seminary and are vitally interested in aiding future ministers of the gospel with the cost of education. The tuition rates at Mid- America are considerably less than that of many other theological institutions and constitute a form of built-in “grant-in-aid” for all students at Mid-America Reformed Seminary.

The estimated total cost of educational and living expenses for nine months ranges from $15,000.00 for single students to $25,000.00 for married students.

Refunds

A student voluntarily withdrawing from the Seminary within five semester days after enrollment in a given semester is entitled to a refund of two-thirds of the semester tuition; after ten semester days, a refund of one-half of the semester tuition will be made. No refund is given for withdrawal after fifteen semester days.

A student enrolled for GI Bill benefits will be refunded no more than ten percent from the exact pro rata portion of tuition, fees, and other charges of the completed portion of the program in relation to its total length. This refund will be paid within forty days after the student withdraws from the program.

Health Insurance

Students and their families are required to show proof of medical insurance coverage upon matriculation at the Seminary or be insured through the medical coverage plan offered by the Seminary. This proof should be submitted to the Business Office with the registration form.

Financial Aid

Funds and scholarships are available to assist needy students. In order to be eligible for financial assistance, the applicant must seek financial aid first from his local church, classis or presbytery. Verification of this effort must be in the form of a signed letter from the diaconate, or the signature of a member of the diaconate on the Financial Worksheet for Student Aid (which is provided to the applicant by the Seminary along with his other financial aid forms). These forms must be submitted to the Business Office by May 1 in order to ensure compliance with school guidelines. In addition, applicants for financial aid should have applied for possible Seminary scholarships.
