In his letter to the Romans Paul emphasizes the important role preaching plays in God's plan of salvation. In chapter 10 verse 14 he writes, "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?"
Mid-America Reformed Seminary believes the ministry of the preaching and teaching of the Word and the administration of the sacraments is the primary means God uses to call people to himself and change them from one degree of glory to another. Since the vitality of Christ's church is linked to the faithful proclamation of the gospel, Mid-America's emphasis is training in the high calling of preaching and teaching God's word in all its fullness. The faculty, staff and students at Mid-America take the task of training for the gospel ministry very seriously. We believe that future generations of God's people depend on it.
Paul asks, "And how can they preach unless they are sent?" This is not a rhetorical question. Preparing men for the gospel ministry is not done in a vacuum. Paul writes the young preacher, Timothy, "You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Timothy 2:1-2) We rely on the faithful financial support of those who partner with us in entrusting God's Word to reliable men who are qualified to preach and teach.
Gifts to Mid-America Reformed Seminary provide financial aid to students preparing for the gospel ministry. They support the faculty and staff in their work of training reliable men. They provide financial resources for the development and operation of the Seminary's buildings and grounds. They encourage foundation and corporate donor support of the Seminary. They may also produce tax benefits for the donor, retirement income now, and a reduction in estate taxes later.
