Mid-America Reformed Seminary Announces the Appointment of Dr. Alan Strange as President.
Dyer, IN —
With gratitude to the Lord, Mid-America Reformed Seminary joyfully announces that Dr. Alan D. Strange has been appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve as the next President of the Seminary. Dr. Strange will officially assume the role on June 1, 2025.
Dr. Strange brings a wealth of academic, theological, and pastoral experience to the presidency. Having served on the faculty of Mid-America since 1999 and more recently as Interim President, he is well-known and deeply respected within the seminary community and its broader ecclesiastical network. His longstanding commitment to Reformed theology, his work as a churchman, and his dedication to preparing men for gospel ministry make him a natural and timely choice for this role.
“I am deeply honored to be asked to serve Mid-America Reformed Seminary as president,” said Dr. Strange. “I very much need and would deeply appreciate the prayers of God’s people in this challenging task as we go forward in the great work of kingdom service.”
Rev. Todd Joling, President of the Board of Trustees, expressed strong support for the appointment, stating, “The Board of Trustees is delighted that Dr. Strange has accepted an appointment as president of the Seminary. He has served very capably and enthusiastically as Interim President over the past months. We are thankful that he has found the work enjoyable, himself well-suited to the task, and has become willing to be appointed president. We trust that the Lord will continue to bless Mid-America Reformed Seminary and its mission through the wise and cheerful leadership of President Strange.”
Dr. J. Mark Beach, Professor of Ministerial and Doctrinal Studies and longtime friend of Dr. Strange, shared: “As a valued colleague for over two decades, I can only say that Dr. Strange is best suited to take up the mantle of being Mid-America’s next president. I, with my faculty colleagues, am grateful to God that the Seminary has found someone who brings energy and vision to this task, along with passion for the Lord and His church. Brother Strange has a long-developed understanding of the values and goals, as well as the distinct purpose of the Seminary, even as articulated by the school’s founding fathers. Dr. Strange is widely known and respected by the Seminary’s constituency and loves the church in its distinctive Reformed and Presbyterian expression. With the Board of Trustees, the present faculty, as well as the Seminary’s passionate supporters, and, most of all, with God’s gracious blessings, Mid-America Reformed Seminary is well-positioned to march forward into the future for the purpose of training preachers and pastors of the gospel. May God bless Dr. Strange and Mid-America Reformed Seminary.”
With Dr. Strange’s leadership, Mid-America Reformed Seminary looks forward to building upon its strong theological foundation and continuing its mission of preparing faithful, capable ministers of the gospel. As the Seminary enters this new chapter, it does so with confidence in God’s providence and in hopeful anticipation of the fruitful work ahead. The Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff humbly ask that the church remember Mid-America and Dr. Strange in prayer, and that the Lord would grant wisdom and grace for the work entrusted to them in service to Christ and His Kingdom.
